I got hit HARD last night....

Last night right before half time I got hit hard by 4+ players. The good news is my camera and lens are safe and sound & we won the game. Bad news is I have a slight concussion & broken leg. I also have a MRI later today to see if there is more damage to my leg the xray couldn't see.

I'm still in shock from it all.

Re: I got hit HARD last night....

    Thank you Grandpaw and Jimmy.

All I can think about is our league deciding game on Friday. I'm hopeful that a friend of mine will shoot with my gear.

The boys were freaked out. Especially the ones who saw it. I was one of the hardest collisions of the night and of course I was in the middle of it. Good lord.

Great to hear you're taking it all in stride. Hope you're feeling better soon and up doing the photo thing again! I've had quite a few close calls, but I've learned that my 80-200 loses focus at about 10' so if they go out of focus I jump!!

Jeta, you must be more careful. I'm sorry to hear about your mishap, but it could have been much worse. I doubt you were wearing a helmet or shoulder pads or a cup. Maybe you should next time. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I was actually standing in a huge group of people. Nobody saw it coming.

I finally was able to view the pics. I was shooting the QB. We are a running team and almost never pass. I mean never. Well, he passed right behind me which is where all of the players came from. Next time..... I will wear a cup. Hee!

    Jeta,

Sorry to hear about the injuries - hope you heal fast.

I can understand helmets and pads, but whats a cup and where do you put it? Is it the same as the Brits call a Box?

    Thanks Roger.

Not sure what the Brits call a box, but since I'm a girl I really don't need one. Maybe that explains it. The only cup I need is one to drink coffee out of.

Its what we call a box, thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering why Jeta would need one - but I won't go there far to polite.

Wow Jeta - that stinks! A good friend of mine in Ohio got hit shooting a game a few weeks ago and now needs surgery to his knee. And I've seen it happen... it's not fun.

Maybe this will brighten your day... I was shooting a UCONN women's soccer game yesterday and out of the blue, this came rolling down the street...

Re: I got hit HARD last night....

Oh WOW JETA!!! I can't start to tell you how sorry I am to hear your news. I took a pretty good hit the first game of the season as you know. Thanks goodness I was able to bounce back up without any damage. At my age don't know how long it would take me to heal if I had injuries like yours.. You thank goodness are young and should have no problem quickly healing. Does kind of put a damper on the season for you and I know It's big one for your son. Please keep us informed on you progress. All my best wishes your way. Just wish I could be there to express them in person.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Re: I got hit HARD last night....

Thanks Homer, the MRI results are being read to me tomorrow AM. I'm hopeful it will show nothing but my tibia fracture. I guess what they are concerned about is my acl, pcl and meniscus. My orthopedic surgeon feels hopeful it's just the break.

JB, thank you and the pic did brighten my day. Maybe I can borrow that little car for the game on Friday instead of the wheelchair. lol

OT, I wish you were here in person, but let me tell you I can feel your sincerity and care. Thank you so much. You were one of the first people I thought of when this happened because of the hit you took this season. I'm glad I was the one with broken bones and not you. I'm also glad it wasn't any of the kids. It could have been a lot worse and I have to find much gratitude in that.

    Thanks again everyone.

I can't leave you alone for a minute JETA and you get hit on the sidelines.... whats my Number 1 rule for shooting sports?

Seriously, I am sorry to hear you got hit and got a concussion and broken leg... OUCH! I hope everything is OK with the MRI and you heal quickly!

The past couple weeks have been rough, and I am not done yet but thought I'd jump in and say Hi and then see this post....woke me up quick! Round 1 of our playoffs is tonight, with a chance of three of 4 making it to next week
Saturday is the one I am NOT looking forward to though. First is volleyball (thats OK) but then I have to suffer through the Indiana State Band Finals at the RCA Dome that aint sports! Worse yet it's been a long time since one of our schools made the finals and the papers want lots of photos.... while I get paid the same whether they use 1 or 20 :mad2: Oh well, wait till they get the $20 parking bill

    Take care of yourself JETA!!!!

Re: I got hit HARD last night....

Yesterday we had 4 tornado warnings and high wins all day and night (still have the winds) , but up North in Nappanee where I used to live they were hit by a tornado. I found out all my friends made it through, although some lost everything, and some snuck through with little damage. One friends daughter will be off work a while as her work was hit hard. The area is known for building RV's . not sure how those businesses faired yet, but the storm went right through those areas of town. Sunday I will be picking up branches all day in the yard, but thats better than the mess up North.

Re: I got hit HARD last night....

    Hi Guys,

Sorry I haven't checked in. This bed-ridden stuff is for the birds.

JS, can you believe it? Good lord, I still don't. What is the #1 rule? I obviously forgot. lol

The good news is my acl, pcl, and meniscus are intact. My orthopedic surgeon said I should have blown my knee out and doesn't know how I didn't from the type of hit I took. He said we should be celebrating it's just a broken leg. lol Not sure I buy that.

I can't put pressure on it for 6 weeks or my knee will become displaced. Then I'm doomed to arthritis and also a screw through my knee. So I plan to stay off of it.

Our biggest game of the season is tonight. I'll be on the field, but in a wheelchair. I'm so darn mad and upset about this.

Anyway, thanks for checking on me and I'll try and check in more often.

Here's a pic of me with my orthopedic surgeon after then got me off the sidelines.

It was senior night and I wasn't going to miss it for anything. Poor Poopsie was so upset when he heard.

Broken leg and all you stayed there...your tough lady! Now take care of yourself and take it easy.Glad to hear the knee is OK otherwise, knee surgery is no fun... but then I had both of them done in a year, and both shoulders later on...got all four corners....and arthritis in all of em too
