    Friday Night Lights

Friday night was the big night around the state for High School football. Both these teams were 9-0 going into the game. The winner came away with the district championship. Both will advance to play offs but the winner has braggin right and the better seed going into the playoffs. D70 and 80-200mm with help from the SB800. Shot at 1/400 at f2.8.

    Re: Friday Night Lights

It's a really nice tight crop Old Timer. I feel like the action is coming right at me - which is excellent - and you've captured what looks to be a key moment in the game.

The image might benefit from some work with the levels/contrast and some noise reduction. However, you know as well as I do, that this comes as part of the bargain when working at extremes like this - very low light, on-camera flash, fast action....an instant recipe for difficulty!

Reminds me a little of those basketball shot I've been taking....still... no pain, no gain!

    Re: Friday Night Lights

I agree with you completly on this shot. I have struggled more with this night football than any thing I have done lately. In order to get enough light to get an image that is anywhere near exposed correctly I have to use way to much flash power. I have been trying to shoot at 1/8th power to get more ambient light in the shot, but just can't get enough light. Jacked it up for a quarter Friday and created a whole new set of problems.
