    Gatekeeper (Semi-Nude)

Early evening in the entrance to a confederate graveyard outside of Mobile, AL. Shot with an Olympus C2100 UZI & an Vivitar 285HV teathered to the camera via PC sync cord. Flash was held by an assistant to my immediate right, about 3feet away, standing on a 2 foot rock wall. Flash was positioned vertically & bounced off a Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer.

If I may say (as a female) ... this may be inappropriate and not exactly a critique, but ...

*wow* I find this very *hot*.

Excellent in every way. Good job!

    Re: Gatekeeper (Semi-Nude)

Very interesting. I like the dark shadows that the flash produced. Especially the one hiding the models eyes. I think the hidden eyes add a nice touch of mistery to the photo. There is something about the models right hand that bothers me. The cape is partly covering it, but I don't know if I want to see more of it, or less. I also don't like the weed/stick in front of the models left leg.

Other than those two nits, I think it's a pretty "hot" image, to steal Kelly's word.

    Great idea...

...but I think it might be worth exploring a bit more. I love the shadow falling across your model's eyes, and the way the rest of the gate shadow forms a pattern on her

Still, to me the overall image lacks depth, and yet doesn't look like it's suppose to be flat. The area behind the model (brick column?) is a little ambiguous, but not in a cool mysterious way. Maybe a tad more light throw back there (upper left corner) would help...

I also think the cropping is too severe. This, of course, is a personal thing, but I'd prefer to see the model's hands, maybe grabbing the gate, and more of her legs and boots.

Real good combination of subjects, though...

    Re: Great idea...

he lack of visable eyes is what bothers me really. Kinda ruins the whole thing. But the consept is great.

I *love* the lack of visible eyes. Focuses attention on the lips, which are mysterious and gothic. I think if I saw eyes it would ruin the softly sinister mood.

Thanks for the comments...although I can't reshoot it. Don't live there and the model moved away. Here's another from the same shoot (similar lighting setup)... I call it "Redemption".
