This would be an excellent candidate for a split ND filter - the sky is hot, and to get the extra stop needed in the foreground, it has to be controlled or it will completely blow out.

    Nice subject, good photo

I'd say the split ND would work well here too, 1/2 stop to the foreground and all the detail in the sky. I also think if you moved up a little you would make the curve in the composition a little more dominant. Crop about the bottom 1/5 out of the shot and you'll see it.

Nice shot, reminds me of many places around here. Where was it taken?

I like the composition / simplicity of the swirled grass. I will say the background (even if captured with a ND filter) is not as interesting as the foreground, and so detracts a little bit but otherwise I like it.

I like it, but agree that a filter could have helped or punch up the contrast a tad. Did you have one taken horizontal? I would like to see one if you do.

Who are they, where are they, how can they possibly know all the rules?

I agree about the sky and comments about the background. The well seen "swirling grass" doesn't need distraction. I would crop to only grass - maybe a square crop from bottom up - do some levels and contrast adjustments to accentuate the blades. Personally, then I would convert to a sharp B&W for more graphic effect (and clone out the one tall weed(?) on the left/foreground).

Thanks all for the comments. Pointswell taken and I agree with most. I shot this in the late morning, before going to work in the afternoon. At this time , the sun is somewhat in front of me. I see lots of potential in this shot if taken during a warmer sun as it is setting behind me. The green would really pop and there should be some great shadows and contrasts. Will post again if and when I can get a better shot.
