Silhouette...does it work for you?

Harsh sunlight, mid day kinda' thing. I think It was pretty good for that situation.

Canon D30, 28-80 lens, f22, 1/80.

Almo... what really works for me is that damn sky! Stunning. as for the lighthouse,, now thats different, a lighthouse with no light .. lol hmm let me look again.. okay, i think it is too big for a silouette and would like to see some detail and form in the lighthouse itself. It would be ok in shadow but i would prefer if it wasnt sillouette. Still a great shot.

I have mixed feelings on it. It seems wanting in some respects but creative in another. Sorta reminds me of a rook on a chessboard? Anyways, nice attempt here and always happy to see creative viewpoints!

Not sure. You obviously don't have any detail in the lighthouse, so there's not too much one can get from that (besides it's shape - which is pretty straightforward). The sky is nice. But in the end, you can only get so much from a shot like this.. The silhouetted shape would have to be *outstanding* for it to be an outstanding picture, and this one is realitively simple.. Which is what's nice about it.

Re: the crop, below is a try. Changes it a little I'd say..

I love the drama created by the clouds, the silhouette and the symmetry. The only thing that I don't like is the cheesy color effect. I think either go full B&W and let us see the textures and details of light and shadow, or leave the original colors be.

Thanks Seb, I appreciate your comments. I was going to throw it out, but that sky stopped me. I don't get the "cheesy" feel from the tone, but i guess it's not everybody cup of tea.

I think it' great almo. Very bold. I might like the lighthouse just a bit more to the left if there was nothing to interfere to the right of the edge. It might be fun to add some graduated color to this shot.

I like it, but would like to see it less centreed. I love the concept, the clouds are just stunning, yet I think a little off centre would look great!

Hey Almo, a great capture of a very dramatic sky. I like the bold, in your face silouette of the lighthouse, but the centered, comp, I find a bit boring. I think the placement of the lighthouse, takes away from the drama in the sky. I think a simple crop would help. I did a couple versions, one cropped so the lighthouse is to the left of the frame, and one with the left, and part of the bottom cropped a bit. I liked the both.

It's excellent and I would be over the top if it came from my camera. A bit of a crop off the bottom I think might (only might) improve. I don't think the sky would suffer because there is lots of great sky to spare.
Have we a human or two at the top leaning on the railings lookin out?
