Red-Green-Blue Filters shot #1

Shot this about 3 weeks ago at a San Diego beach. Its an effect where you use three filters - red, green, and blue - on a triple exposure set at -2 f-stops (I actually shot it at -1 since from experience I know that -2 underexposes). Anything that is stationary receives the same amt of red, green, and blue exp and theoretically comes out normal color, although as you can see its not exact. Anything area of the pic that moves will be a different color. Here, the water is the moving part.

The trick is to prevent your camera (and tripod) from moving at all and to hope your camera can really hold the film steady when it recocks the shutter.

This is the sharpest shot, but the composition isn't as good as the next shot (I post that next).

Pretty neat. The only thing I don't like is the color of the foam on the waves.

What a color project! I can't say that I'm in love with these particular results but I get it! Thanks for the interesting technique information I'm going to have to try this out.

dbutler -- I did a triple exposure on one film plane. Basically, you quadrupal your film setting say from 50 to 200 ISO/ASA. The shutter speed and aperature are not so important. You just have to make sure you really anchor down your camera with your tripod and hope that your camera doesnt move the film at all when you recock your shutter. If it does move the frame, you will get some blur or softness. Oh you also do not put the filters on the lens directly - changing them between color shots would shake the camera too much. You just hand hold them over the lens. No contact, no shake.

Second one is much better IMO though the waves are getting a little psychadelic.
