    No Story

just texture and colour in a very familiar context. I liked the lines of the chainsaw and growth rings along with the dark and lighter colour etc

    What do you all think????

    counting rings

So how old was the tree?
I like this shot Irish. I think the texture, patterns in the rings and color are great. That said- I would like to see a tad more pop in the color... it looks a little hazy to me, but it could be my monitor.

Here is what I like about the picture: you have captured it in way that makes the patterns look like rays of light starting from the top right and spreading over the whole area. At first look, I thought that the dark spot looked like the shadow a low flying casts on a field on a sunny day.

Good work. I am no expert, so I judge pictures by whether I like what I see or not. I'm new to photography, so I don't always have exposure and/or lighting tips. However, I can tell you that your capture of the textures kept me coming back to look over and over.

Villena, thanks for the comment - not and old tree, 8-10 inched in diameter.

I tried a little contrast and saturation in photoshop but I think the colours are a little flat but reasonably true what I saw

cycledad, glad you like the image and can see more than just the grain in the tree stump. Like you I think an image has to be pleasing on an emotive level before we try to explain the technical aspects etc.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
