My first pics!!

Hello everyone.
I am a new a photography having just been given a digital camera for a birthday present so I am finding a whole new hobby to get my teeth into!! I am certainly going to make use of this forum for helpful advice. I should let you know that I have no knowledge of what makes a "good" photo so please go easy on me with my first offerings to the photography gods!! The photos have been taken with a Nikon 2200 Compact type digital camera. It has many preset functions so hopefully they will be useful.

Nice to see your first posts here. They are all great photos.

1. I think, and maybe it is just me, but the photo looks a little blue and a tad dark. The water coming out of the faucet is nice and clear, very sharp. I like the soap suds too, it adds another texture to the photo.

2. Love this one! It too is clear and sharp. I like the added color of the flower, breaks up the browns in the photo very nicely. I also like the fact that you caught the kitten sleeping next to the flower, perfect timing on your part.

3. Not quite sure what to say about this one, only because I posted a sunset (I also am new to this) on a site and one comment is that it was dark. (I thought that was the idea of a sunset?!?!?) Anyway, I guess, according to those in the know that sometimes it is nice to use fill flash which might open up the area in the front of the photo...if what is in front is worth exposing. Personal preference I guess. I think it is a beautiful sunset you have captured and framed it very well within the trees. Dark, I don't know. Someone else might be able to help in that area.

thank you very much for your comments. I am lucky that I have two very cute (imo ) cats to take loads of pictures of! I've gone back to the running tap picture and softened the blue tint and tried to make the picture a little brighter. I've included it below for comparison.

Hi, you are welcome! Speaking of cats, I posted a picture of a friends kitten yesterday in the pet gallery, I also took the picture yesterday, kitten looks absolutely maniacal! You should look. I like your new version, it is very nice!

I also received a post about what I told you about your sunset. I am happy to say that I can say I like it just as it is! LOL I am very new to this to and don't want to steer you the wrong way, but when I saw your sunset I really liked it as is. However because of a post I received about a sunset I posted elsewhere thought maybe I shouldn't say anything so I didn't mess you up. I am beginning to see that to "thine ownself be true" is especially meaningful when taking pictures. So, on that note, you took a great sunset as far as I am concerned. Going to post my sunset here too, then you can critique it and tell me what you think. Keep up the good work!
