    Mark,

Very nice. This is a great newspaper shot, and very emotional. I would do something to the colors though, either bring out the red in the roses or do something, it just seems a little flat.

Nice shot though, an easy fix,

    Jared

    Re: Memorial at the woods

Mark, I feel the real appeal here , for me, would have been to stand back or zoom out and show much more of the surrounding area in which this memorial has been placed. To be able to view this site in it's surroundings would allow me to identify with it. Put it into perspective and perhaps wonder about what had happened here and to who. When I view it close up as it is, I don't feel anything from it, not even a name to grab off the marker. Being as it is though, I think converting this to b&w could bring out the sorrow and tragedy that is here and an eerie image that would hold my interest. Just my opinion .

Jared, thanks for the compliments. I see what you mean about the flowers, but they are old artificial flowers and are a bit more weathered than they appear here.
    Thanks again,
    Mark.

Gary, thanks for posting, always like to get youre opinion.I did try this a few different ways, even shooting from across the road and including blurred cars going by. Made the subject too small.
I will try this in B&W, and do a retake w/ youre suggestions in mind.

    Re: Memorial at the woods

What would it look like in B&W except for the flowers still retaining their color?

I'd have maybe tried to focus a little more on the cross marker.

Is that roadside trash that has gathered around the cross? If so, that makes some sort of statement, sad, that could be emphasized in some way. (But that is my weakness, I can see where something might could be emphasized, but when it comes to doing it, I never manage to pull it off like my brain is seeing it)

Paul, thanks for pointing out the trash, I dont really know if its good or bad, but it was there so I left it in. The cross faces slightly away from the tree and is behind the tree. I wanted to include both, but it is akward to compose. I was thinking about B&W w/color flowers. B&W will work better I'm sure.
    Thanks for posting
