Gold at the end of the Rainbow

I feel I was in the right place at the right time and lucky to get this shot.

The impending storm and the rainbow over the beach with the late evening sun created some marvelous colours.

I boosted the colour just a fraction in PhotoshopCS - is it too much??

    Any comments most appriciated.

    Thanks

Oh Irish, these are just gorgeous! No, it's not too much at all. The scene is just stunning. Are they a little grainy? Didyou do that on purpose? Well, no matter what, they are wonderful.
The second one is nice with the person at the end of the rainbow, but my fav is #1. Good work!

I agree with Kit. These are some great shots. I find both stunning but I'm leaning towards the one with the person. It made the whole shot alot more interesting.

    Beautiful!
I like the first one for its colors and the second one for the person.
I like the first one more, however, no wait...the second...no wait...you get the point they are both wonderful!

    My first response: Oh my!

Fantastic shots man, right place, right time, remembered the camera. 3 for 3.

The color boost is not even close to "too much."

    Wow.

Wow, striking colours! I love this type of images, the light really plays with the eye. I must say I like the first one more than the second one, but that must be personal preference.

    Cheers,

I like the one with the person it it a bit more... gives it a bit of mystery... like maybe this is the treasure? One thing that might have been cool to try, would have been to get down a bit lower and have the person pop above the horizon line. But, that's just an idea. The pic is just fine as is.

compositionally, I like the first one. But for sheer "coolness" I think the second one is AWESOME, and what makes it so wonderful is that I've NEVER seen another like it!

So the second one wins for me, hands down.

I tried something in photoshop, hope you don't mind, but I wanted to see a more threatening sky without losing the color in the highlights. So I did something that normally doesn't work, but in this case it worked for everything but the color of the sand. Maybe go back to the original and try something like this, only if you want to. Here, this picture explains it better than my words could:

Thanks Kit, no the grain is not on purpose. Most of the skys I take come up a little grainy, not sure why.

Maybe some more experienced soul can shine some light on that subject for me

Nina, shadz and Hightree thanks for looking and commenting, always nice to know that others enjoy the images.

FadderUri, I tried a couple of other shots, but the light was changing quickly and the tide was coming in - this was probable the best I could do with the person in the image without getting wet. Always looking for a new angle but I don't like getting my camera wet.
