    Flowers Today

Not quite so early today but I still managed to find a few shots. The purple phloes with one white is a shot I've been going past when there hasn't been enough light so I made a return visit today.

Nice work Chunk, I like the shadows coming throught the leaves on the third one and the colours and busyness of the fourth one. I find with the first one, that the focus is not one one particular part of the flower though, and it throws me off a little. Nice compostion and lighting though.

Thanks for your comments PhotoGimp. Do you Like this one better with the focus on the near green parts any better? I'm going to have to try for greater DOF on these.

Yeah, the focus is much better on that one! I find that when I shoot flowers, which is most of the time, I sometimes like to focus on one particular part of the flower, like the edge of a petal, or even the stem, and not on the thing as a whole. It's hard to fit all the detail into one shot!

Your most recent photo is just perfect for me! The DOF is just bang on, and the colors are stunning! Very well done Chunk,

Thanks Jared. I wish I had a little more dof on that one so the petals were in focus like the first but realize that it's the better of the two because of the near part being in focus.

Chunk, the last shot of the flower I agree is better for the nearest part being in focus. It gives the illusion that more or all of the flower is in sharp focus. I also feel the last shot with the green and purple hues is appealing as well. For me, the other two seem to suffer from shadows and harsh lighting.

Beautifully done! I really like the lighting and the sharpness here. I think the 1st one is my favorite with the great shallow dof.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.
