    East Burren Landscape

    Hi all,

My first post in this forum, but don't hold back the critical goodness.... I took this shot a few weeks ago in the Burren (in the west of Ireland) - whats right/wrong with it...

The Burren looks to be pretty barren. I like the harshness and starkness of this image. But level your horizon! Or tilt it more on purpose.

    Hello,

I like it, subject and composition work for me! Same comment, level the horizon and I would try pushing contrast a bit, it seems a bit flat to me but it can be my monitor.

Nice first post Dave, welcome to the fray.

Very stark, cold image that works well in black and white. I like your use of space to the right of the image to accentuate the sparse landscape. Even the "tree" looks stunted and seems to be strugling to survive. And as others have commented - straight horizons please.

    Thanks for sharing.

Nice image! ....and welcome to PR!!

    now, for my "critical goodness"...lol.

In my opinion, I think it would benefit from a crop to get rid of the grass on the lower right hand side.. makes it feel even more "barren"
    Good post!

I like the scene and the composition, good feel of desolation. Bring out the whits a bit more as it is just a bit muddy looking. Good shot. Try tilting the horizon even further for added drama befroe straightening it.

Straighten the horizon... I feel like I'm slipping to the right as I look at this picture.
Fantastic subject. The tree looks like it's fighting for survival in the barren wilderness
Personally, I'd crop from the bottom until the base of the tree is almost the bottom of the frame. But that's just me.

I love the concept and feel of this shot.

Ok, thanks for the comments - I've uploaded 2 new versions of the photo, cropped and rotated slightly. one is more contrasty than the other - which do you think is better? I'm tending towards the contrasty one...
