    Bleeding Heart

    Canon 20D w/ EF-S 18-55, circular polarizer, +3 Closeup
    1/125 @ F11 100 ISO
    On camera flash

I think I'd prefer that the top flowers were sharper, but other than that I like the way this shot fills the frame. The original had the faint image of the other branches in the background, but I think I like this version with empty space. Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Edit: I threw in another photo that's better than the first. Thought about deleting the first one, but figured it would make my comments confusing

I like bleeding hearts. I'm curious as to when yours bloomed? Ours were over and done with three weeks back. I posted a photo earlier and am glad to see others appreciate these old fashioned flowers.

The empty space is fine. These seem to me to need a bit of sharpening as you mention. I'd like to see the photo with the background for comparison.

    Hi drg,

Ours are blooming right now. Of course, in Vermont everything seems to happen a little later than the rest of the continental US.

This version of the photo is less sharp than the full size, but they're both not as sharp as I'd like. I'll see about posting the original to compare the backgrounds. (And maybe some other shots, depending on how they come out.)

    Thanks!

Great shot. A little harsh colors, but it works on the dark background. Well composed and a nice strong shot.
