    african sunset redo, better Gary?

I was thinking the same thing that you mention Gary, so I took a few verts. as well. Is this better? Is the tree too centered?

Shane, I really feel this is a spectacular image and yes, better than the other horizontal shot of the two trees previously posted. I don't really feel it is too centered as it seems to work in this scene, but I think bringing the tree over a bit more to the right side of the frame by cropping about a half inch or so would improve. What keeps this from being a "perfect" shot is the cloud coming down and breaking right at the top of the tree, causing a bit of distraction as opposed to a good clean silhouette.
I tried a bit of ps to help that and what I did was to eliminate the cloud breaks right at the top of the tree and clone some more tree fluff in to extend the silhouette up a bit and beyond the break line, and did the crop. I feel it looks improved, but will show you the edit only if your ok with it. Anyway, a very pleasing image with great exposure and color. Surely worth a large print.

Absolutely! I would love to see what you did. If it is not to complicated could you also explain the techniques involved.

Thankyou so much for your help. It is people like you that I was hoping to meet on this forum.

    thanks shane

I think this is a great shot but I don’t know if it is my eyes playing tricks on me or something but the ground seems a bit uneven. If it were mine I might try putting the tree a bit more on the right side.

This is a quick edit to give you an idea of what I had in mind. I used the clone tool to clone out the cloud breaks that were right on top of the tree, and then cloned in some extra tree fluff to fill the tree line up over the break in the clouds. It is best to zoom in very tight say 300-500% or even more sometimes and using a very small clone tool work on removing and replacing as you see fit. Remember, this is only a personal preference thing and the original image is quite nice, I only feel it would be better with a cleaner silhouette away from the cloud breaks.
