    Re: Gas prices

I don't remember if it was this board or another one... I head someone say that the lower gas prices are because of a conspiracy from the oil companies to turn the focus away from alternative sources of energy...

    Re: Gas prices

I was just watching the news from the US, and an analyst (what ever an alalyst is, maybe someone who finds sand in oil?) said that oil was going to drop to $25 a barrel when China goes into recession. Oil today is only $43+ a barrel. I might stop buying noodles (the 50 cent poverty packs) just to help the Chinese regress into a recession.

It is very funny that just a couple of months ago when the Arabs were saying that they couldn't drop the price of oil to help slow the world economic recession nor could they increase oil production to help. Now today < $44 a barrel.

My car is driven by greed.

Just imagine how low the low cost of oil will be, with all these new electric cars coming onto the roads ... ... now we wont be able to afford to run our home airconditioners. It will be cheaper to drive our cars with the windows wound down ... just to remain cool.

    Warren.

PS, The way we are being continually lied to, bluffed and fooled by corporate greed merchants, God help us if the Germans try again ... .

Gas by the beach here in Southern California is finally less than $3 a gallon but not by much.

Gas here now stands at .72cents a litre. I never understood either why the prices soared like they did. Could it possibly be greed?

Last night. 60 minutes had a great report on oil, where it comes from and what effects the prices. I will never think about the subject the same. The Suadi's have to get $55.00 a barrel just to break even and run their country.

I live in Keni Alaska, on the major road system, & only 10 minutes from a major refinery, * I'm still paying $2.79 a gallon, & that's with no state tax! I'm thankful gov Palin recinded that for a year (another $.09 per gal)..

From what I understand $55 is still quite a profit they are making, they simply depend so much on revenue from oil that anything less would run them into deficit.... Sucks to have the nations government depending on revenues from fossil fuels, they will be a thing of the past before too long (our lifetime, at least us young ones ;))

$1.39 around here now... I remember when $70 filled my tank, now I fill it in less than $25...

Vance, that 9 cents seems pretty miniscule, relatively speaking. Geez, if youre paying $2.79 now, what were you paying when oil was $150 a barrel?

    Latest fiscal chicanery:
Reduce Value Added Tax to 15% (from 17.5%)
But on Petrol, Cigarettes & Alcohol - the duty is increased to retain the retail price.
So that when the tax goes back up to 17.5% at the end of next year, we'll all forget that they hiked the duty.
