The camera I'll be using is a Nikon CoolPix 3200 (a small, cheap (< 200 $US) digital camera). The Manfrotto 190 suggested costs more than the camera, and seems to be for serious photographers.
When you say a Manfrotto 190 should do the trick "as well", do you mean that the SLIK & Sony models (cheap, < 30 $US) I mentioned would suffice? Unfortunately, I have absolutely no knowledge of tripod terminology, so things like 2-way pan & 3-way pan are unintelligible to me.
In short, I'm looking for a cheap tripod that will take nadir & portrait photos.
