    Store Comparison

I am going to buy a minolta maxxum 70 and i need some help figuring out where i should get it from. at B&H it is 209.00 for the body and a 28-100 minolta zoom lens, and batteries. at ritz it is 229.00 and it comes with a quantaray 28-90 zoom lens, however it does not come with batteries. i kind of wanted to get it from ritz so that if i had any problems they were right there and i could go in there and ask them questions if i needed any help. What do you guys suggest. i also want to know what camera cases you guys reccomend. i want one for about 20-30$ and i want it to be a small gadget bag that can hold the camera and about 2 lenses. i don't want it to be to bulky, yet i want to be able to fit everything in it. thanks for all the advice!

Go with B&H. You are getting the same body and a Minolta lens vs paying more and getting a mediocre-at-best Ritz-brand Quantray lens. No contest.

There is a dealer feedback forum here - but I'm not sure if there's anything about Ritz in it. I can tell you that B&H is my store of choice as well as many others here. But buying anything mailorder, it's best to be sure of what you're getting. Returns are usually more of a hassle than being able to walk into a store and take care of it.

One thing: If you go to the top of this page and click on the "shop" button, you'll get a link to B&H (and others). If you go to B&H's website thru our link, the website gets a small referral fee to help keep it going - and it doesn't cost you anything.

I'm a loyal B&H customer. I buy practically everything I have from them, even CF cards which I could get cheaper elsewhere. Their customer support is still the best out there for online purchasing. Besides, I have real bur in my saddle when it comes to Quantaray lenses. I just think they're absolute junk. I tried one that a friend had on her EOS rebel and tried it out on my 1V, and the camera wouldn't acknowledge that the lens was on. They build on those things are awful too. Anyway, enough on Quantaray. It's always best to stay with same brand lenses for your camera.

My vote is for B&H also. Ritz has always seemed over priced to me.
