    Web Page maker.?.?

Okay, I want to create a web page for my images. I have a FTP site as part of my High Speed cable package. My question is this:
    - Can a person make a good page from a store bought software?
    - How much would it cost to have a basic page made by a profesional?

    thanks

All depends on how much you're willing to learn. Most webs can be put together with minimal software. OR you can spend a ton and learn that way too. The pros buy their software from the same places you and I do, they've just dedicated themselves to actually knowing how to use the software to maximum effect, and get paid nicely for their efforts.
Frontpage is easy to use, clunky to upload. Dreamweaver is better, much better, but still clunky to upload, although better than Frontpage. I use ACE ftp to upload my webpages now, much faster and simpler to use. I use Dreamweaver to edit, and ACE ftp to upload, although I start my layouts in Photoshop, export the layout as html, and edit in Dreamweaver. Most of this I've learned in the last month with help from a professional web man who has been doing this since junior high. I was so impressed with his skill, I hired him to do the office website. The new website goes online Jan 22. He was not cheap.
So, it's up to you really. If you have the time to invest, and the software too, then you could put together as good a website as you want. IF not then hire out to a professional, I did. You can click below on my website if you want to check out my pitiful homegrown website (made with Frontpage). Then check it out again after the 22nd of next month, and see the difference a pro makes versus someone like me who has barely a clue to making websites (but I'm learning fast now-hope to make my own personal website soon).

There's also boxedart.com where you can download ready to go web templates that you can customize with whatever software you have. Happy webmaking ;)

I use FrontPage for my personal site as well as in the past to create sites for business. Contrary to what is often stated, FrontPage does generate pages that can be viewed with any browser. I have tested mine with Opera, Mozilla, Firefox, and, of course, IE.

I upload files using the network connection in Windows. No need to buy any FTP program or do anything fancy. It makes your remote web site look like a local hard drive. No problems uploading at all.

Dreamweaver is a also very good product but requires a lot more work to learn For most web sites like this, FrontPage is a lot easier to use.

You might also want to look in the website forum located near the middle bottom of the forums page and see info in there as well.
