    Question How does one read an MTF chart?

    I've been looking at the MTF charts for the 300 f4 IS against the 400 f5,6 trying to decide between the two, but I have no clue how to read those charts. Can someone shed some light on this?

    Red face I found some links for MTF charts

    OK, now I know how to read MTF charts.
    PJ, are MTF explanations somewhere on this site? If not , might be good to put 'em somewhere.

    A google search showed that one of my favorite sites (The Luminous Landscape) has an article about interpreting MTF Charts.

    I've never gotten that technical about lenses so I can't verify its accuracy.
    There's a LOT of other good info on that site.
