Well, like I said, the flash does put out a lot of energy. I know when I end up with a flash too close to me face when it pops, I can definitely smell it. But I'm sure that's normal. If it is short-circuiting something I think it would just quit working. Also, what could you do about it if it is? If it's still under warranty, I guess you should send it in. There's nothing you can do about it on your own. Like I said, I think it's probably normal and most people just never notice. I can't be sure, though. If you want to be completely sure, the only thing you can do is send it in and let the maufacturer check it out.
