    Talking I purchased the Z3 for $300

Because I got such a good deal on this camera $300 plus a $30 gift card free at Circuit City, I got the camera.

    Rationale'

**Price is Right - especially since it is for 2nd camera
**Noise - I won't use it much for low light as for inside pics I use my Rebel - which I use most of the time anyway.
**If a much better camera/deal comes out in February I won't feel bad. Next year at tax return time, I can sell this one.

Actually because I bought a 128 SD card, CC gave me $40 gift card which made up the difference in the price of memory card (CC $35 - B&H $23).

    Trog......

I'm really glad you showed up on PR! Your posts not only include lots of good info - but they are interesting - and you have a great sense of humor.

BTW, where are your pictures? Can you post some around somewhere - maybe if you don't want them critiqued - use Viewfinder.

Price - that's what "sold" me.

    "BTW, where are your pictures?"

i did have a period of posting a few pics in the critique forum a couple of years back liz.. i had a reasonable selection of stuff i had resized and put online but it all got lost due to a server crash.. look back far enough and u will find quite a few links with nothing on the end of em..

i think i had more enthusiasm back then to be honest.. at the moment i am not sure even what to take pictures of and what even makes a good picture any more.. i think its the downside of digital and having the ability to take perhaps too many pictures of less than interesting subjects..

lots of cameras and nothing to do with em seems the order of the day..

time will sort me out i hope.. he he

Red face Snowshots......but can't post yet!

    Silly me!

I forgot to get a card reader - I have one for CF cards only.

I didn't want to get into downloading software - and posting it directly from camera. Since there is still blizzard conditions, I'll wait until tomorrow.

u have me a little lost there Liz.. if u just install the usb drivers from the CD the camera will show up as a removable drive in explorer and u can drag and drop em to your desktop.. just copy the entire DCM folder or the panasonic one in it over.. once on your desk top u can do as u like with em..

u dont need to install the rest of the junky software that comes on the CD.. just the usb drivers.. thow in XP u might not even have to install anything.. i am behind the times and still use 98se..

i use a card reader just cos its easier than plugging the camera in every time to transfer pics.. but u can manage quite well without one..

if u only have usb ports stuck at the back of your computer just leave the camera lead plugged in all the time so as u can easily get at it.. if u dont have enough usb ports buying a little four port usb hub is the thing to do.. usb ports stuck on the back of a computer are a pain in the arse.. especially when u dont have enough of em.. he he

Oh! I thought I had to install the Panasonic software. O well. I got a multiple card reader as my Rebel takes CF cards - and I'll use it when I'm away with my laptop too, so I can take it with me as well as use it in the office. It was $27 at Walmart - and $40 at Bestbuy - same one - Sandisk.

Thanks for trying to help one of the "photography for dummies" people.

I'm working believe it or not - so will try tonight. Just checkin' in.
