Your Favorite Image of 2009

Sorry, I have trouble understanding rules at times :)

Here's one of my favorites from this year.

I caught a sweet moment with Anthony and Ginger; both whom I lost this year. This was her last trip to Moab.

Ginger developed cancer and I put her down April 1st. Anthony passed away in his sleep on May 7th. It has been a difficult year...

Awwww, Carrie. Thanks for sharing that. That's definitely an important photo.

By the way, I'm not sure if you know it, but just before Anthony died, one of his photos was chosen as a Photo Of The Week here. I was excited that he was starting to post here. But I don't think he ever knew that his photo was chosen. He never responded to any of the comments and shortly after I heard about his passing. Thanks for sharing and reminding us that sometimes what's most important is the memory. By that standard, the value of this photo is immeasurable.

Maybe not best but one of these is my favorite...An impossible decision to make.

Thanks John (Almo)! Great thread idea. What about a seperate one for "Your BEST picture of 2009", since a lot of people, myself included, may not think that their favorite is their best work? Just curious! Love your bird pic, I need to get more animal shots in 2010!

It is now called my favorite set. I actually have about 30 very similar and it was hard enough picking these 3 out of the bunch.

Took this with my iPhone while we were camping a few weeks back. A nice cold (by Texas standards) morning.

This would have to be my favorite for 2009. Technically awful - focus is off, lighting is bad, noise is significant, subject is common, setting is not extravagant, ... but what a goofy image!

Great idea for a thread John. I had a hard time with this one but selected, The Old Cowboy, because it gave me the most satisfaction of any image all year because it was a completely a shot of opportunity. No posing, no special lighting, no can I take your picture just completely candid and it turned out to be just what I wanted. Hope you like it too.

It is not always our best that is our favorite. Great shot Loupey I have to giggle every time I see it.

This may very well be my favorite picture of the year here on PR. It may have a lot to do with my grandson's love for jets. Every time I see this one I get a very warm felling in my heart thinking of him. Just a wonderfully conceived image.

Makes me happy :D

Your cowboy image is a beauty, Old Timer. It's a great subject, a great composition and I feel like it represents a ton of photographic tradition. It's in my gallery favorites :)

This is my favorite picture this year -- really, my only year. Not because I even really like the photo, but because it represents the light years I've come since literally not knowing what a DSLR even was let alone how to turn it on. The sticky was like a smiley face gold star for all the grueling effort I have put into learning what in the world is meant by aperture, iso, shutter, etc., etc., etc. Still have light years to go, but it's not quite so daunting now -- thanks to PR :)

The shot I posted was of Mt. Rainier, the steam/ fog is coming up from the Green River. Black Diamond, WA. is about 25 miles South East of Seattle, WA.

One of my favorites from the year (well at least in recent memory since I've shot so much this year!)

From a wedding a couple weeks ago.

These are all great photos. I remember many but some are new.

Paula, that better have been your favorite photo after all the work you did on it and grovelling on the barn floor!

This one is my favorite I guess. It's so hard to chose. Not the best (hard to get the wife to stand still for 13 seconds or something like that. The second one is same beach and has its flaws but was fun to shoot.

Had to stand for 15 seconds. The sand eroded under our feet so we got blurred a little. But what the heck.

This one just fits the time of year. Nevada Mustangs so desparate for food that they began to crowd me. I've wrangled in my distant past but was still a little nervous.

I shot 9337 images worth saving this year, an average of over 25 per day for every day of 2009 so it's incredibly difficult to pick one favorite, but this Florida Panther shot is probably the best mix of blind luck, quick reflexes, and skill at my chosen hobby I can come up with
