Re: Your Favorite Image of 2009
Now in 2010 and looking back on 2009, its hard to choose a photo. In my opinion each one belongs to a different category, representing something different to the photographer for things like technique, feeling, atmosphere, creativity, pp work, etc. For me I'd choose this in my portfolio for strong colour, deep gaze, sharpness, the candidness of time and place I took the shot (a Busker on the streets in Geneva). Probably not my best but one I like a lot. Hope you did as well.

    Beauty!
That's a beautiful photo, jetrim. Does it have a big crop or were actually able to shoot it that tight? Did you take it at a wildlife park or zoo or was this actually in the wild? Do these cats even live in the wild in Florida anymore?

    A Couple More 2009 Favorites
I'm going to have to take a couple more "favorites." Thanks for indulging me. I'm so obsessed with the outdoor sports photos that they're pretty much all I can think about. But I also do a lot of landscape photography. And this fall I had what I think was probably the best landscape photo opportunity since I moved to Utah. This is definitely one of my favorite photos of 2009, if not since I moved to Utah.

    http://gallery.photographyreview.com...11/A011907.jpg

And this one was shot on December 31st, after this thread was started. I hope I'm not abusing what almo wanted from this post. This is a photo I've been waiting for the opportunity to get - a ski powder shot with the skier just buried in the snow. This is one of the things I live for and a photo every hardcore skier can relate to.

I think I've covered all of my categories now - bike, landscape and snow :D

Great images guys! I don't think I have been getting notifications, because there are tons more pics here than before.

    Please keep it going!

Here is another one, I took it a couple of days before new years. I think it's my best moon to date!

I think the notifications feature is broken. I'll look into that. I never use it so I wouldn't notice.

Jimmy, that’s an awesome pic there and of course there are many other good photos on this thread but you get my vote so far.

Since I just restarted with this hobby again I have some very modest files from last year and this one was taken around july/August when she was 6 or seven month old with a 3mp Epson camera with low res at that…the file says 2006 but that is incorrect… hope you like it

Very, very nice. My dad was my photographic inspiration, too. And he posts here occassionally. My mom, too. It's a family-friendly place. Sort of. Most of the time :)

Apass thank you. My Dad was the one who let me use his camera when I was younger and when he passed away I had his camera and it went on from there.

I had some pretty nice shots this year, but this is my favorite. I shot this at sunset on Christmas day at Big Bend National Park. The river in the foreground is the Rio Grande and the mountains are the Sierra del Carmen's. From what I understand, DHS is trying to put up a fence through the park, and if they succeed, this incedible view will be gone. Personally, I think the Sierra del Carmen Mountains make an incredible 'natural fence'.

Great photo and welcome to the site! I've always wanted to go to Big Bend. And this is a beautiful image. Are we looking south into Mexico here? I have no sense of the topography there.

Thanks for posting in this thread. Looking forward to more from you!

Out of all the photos I shot this year this one is my favorite and will probably be my favorite for a long time. It was taken not even 30 seconds after my son was born. It may not be perfect as far as composition goes. but to me its the best photo I have ever taken.

There are some amazing images in this thread. I love the quiet feeling and icy detail of Gary's November. Lori11's motorcycle shot with the chain in the air is outstanding. Talk about timing!

The Boy on the Bike is one of my personal favorites because it happened so spontaneously. He still makes me smile.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am happy to have found this forum :)

The shot was taken from on top of a 'hill' in the southeast corner of the park in an area called Rio Grande Village, or RGV for short. The mountains run almost north/south (south-southeast from my vantage point), so I was facing east-southeast into Mexico when I took this shot to capture the colors of the setting sun on the mountains.

Facing the opposite direction, this is a photo of the Chisos Mountains, also across the Rio Grande (the river made a hook around the hill).

These were from my first visit to Big Bend as a three day scouting trip. I will be returning in April for ten days, and really look forward to being able to take my time and plan for the right lighting.
