    Your Favorite Image of 2009
What is your favorite image from this year? It doesn't need to be your best photo, or even one that is very good, just one that you like the best.

It was a very difficult call for me because this was not a good year for me photographically. In fact the last 3 or 4 years have been a major slump for me, but I think this one is the one I like the most.
This was one of the first opportunities I had to use my 40D and my 300mm f/4 L and I lucked out with this guy.

Nice one John. A topic inspired by me hey? lol
    Ok here is mine...

Window light, ordinary A4 white paper and a P&S. (oh yeah, and double sided sticky tape to stick the curl to the paper).

    Great Thread Idea
Great thread idea, John. And three great photos to get things started. Nice diversity already, which I think I can further diversify :)

It's tough to choose just one - especially when I shot so much this year. There are whole shoots that are buried and forgotten already *sigh*.

But when I look back and think about what I did, this one really stands out for me. I wish my best had been a ski photo. But I love what I was able to do with this one - ISO 800, just as the sun was going down. Everything came together perfectly here. And all the suffering of an early season ride with the EOS 5D Mk II, 70-200 f/2.8L and 24-105 f/4 IS L totally paid off.

There are so many things technically wrong with this picture that I won't even comment on them. I took this with my point-and-shoot on my way to take some pics of a bar that had been closed a few years ago. For some reason, my car giving me a dirty look for leaving it behind just makes me smile more than any other pics I took this year.

Good idea Almo for a thread! Glad to see you are still out there shootin'!!

This is one of my favorites from 2009 and the one that popped into mind that I have posted at PR.

It is Helio Castroneves pumping his fist just after crossing the finish line at the 93rd Indianapolis 500 for his third win.

Hm, tough...but I will have to go with this one:

The Hogg's Hollow Bridge, this section was built in 1929 as part of Hwy 11, and integrated into the 401 when it was built in the 1960s. I had this one printed in a 36x24 print for my parents for Christmas.

I caught a sweet moment with Anthony and Ginger; both whom I lost this year. This was her last trip to Moab.

Ginger developed cancer and I put her down April 1st. Anthony passed away in his sleep on May 7th. It has been a difficult year...

    Awwww
Awwww, Carrie. Thanks for sharing that. That's definitely an important photo.

By the way, I'm not sure if you know it, but just before Anthony died, one of his photos was chosen as a Photo Of The Week here. I was excited that he was starting to post here. But I don't think he ever knew that his photo was chosen. He never responded to any of the comments and shortly after I heard about his passing. Here's a link to that photo: http://forums.photographyreview.com/...ad.php?t=54363

And it's also in our Featured Photo Archive. It's about two-thirds down in the middle column on this page: http://www.photographyreview.com/fea...lery13crx.aspx

Thanks for sharing and reminding us that sometimes what's most important is the memory. By that standard, the value of this photo is immeasurable.

Great idea for a thread John. I had a hard time with this one but selected, The Old Cowboy, because it gave me the most satisfaction of any image all year because it was a completely a shot of opportunity. No posing, no special lighting, no can I take your picture just completely candid and it turned out to be just what I wanted. Hope you like it too.

This may very well be my favorite picture of the year here on PR. It may have a lot to do with my grandson's love for jets. Every time I see this one I get a very warm felling in my heart thinking of him. Just a wonderfully conceived image.
