Being in Iraq for a good portion of the year has kept me from doing a whole lot, but this is one that I snapped just prior to coming over. Far from perfect, but definately a favorite of mine. I cant wait to get back to my gear back home and resume the learning process.

    Hello,

I had the opportunity to take pictures at quite a few horse shows in 2009 and this particular picture was one of my favorites. The horse and rider walked away from this crash unhurt. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

    Sweet!
I definitely remember that one! one of the things a good sports photographer has to learn is when to stay calm and keep shooting. It's sooo easy in a situation like this to stop and just stand there with your mouth open. Good job :)

Wow, quite a difficult task, choosing ... especially since this is my first post. The photos here are all incredible, the stories inspiring.

I suppose I will have to put a couple up.

This one I took at the Grand Canyon in April. I'll call it "The Survivor"

For my next favorite I don't have a name for it but I took it in Pink Coral Sand Dunes State Park, Utah. Also in April.

Both were taken with my Nikon D40.

I'd appreciate any comments or critiques you have for me!

    Thanks,
    Stephen

So many diverse styles, interests & subjects here it was a pleasure to browse the thread. Makes it all the more difficult to choose on of my own, but my brain always goes back to this one -

i didn't shoot too much this year---had a great '08, but just didn't feel it too much this year...my favorite stuff this year was portraits, and this was one of my favs, taken up on the coast in northern california at Dillon Beach...taken with my Canon XSI, and a borrowed lens...i think it's an 80mm prime lens that belonged to my subject.....: ) never posted before, so i hope this shows up....

also--please advise on sizing images....i had to whittle it down to nothing to get it to attach, and thus, it has some bad banding issues....

It looks fine, kenny. For help on better setting up photos for the Web, why don't you start a new discussion on the Photography Software & Post Processing forum. That's definitely something we can help with. But let's not clutter up this thread with that discussion.

Oh yeah - nice photo. Seriously. Love the close framing and the eyes. Very, very nice - a worthy addition to this thread :)

Since it has been my long time desire to visit the Panama Canal, I guess this is my favorite of the year.
It must be, since I have made it the wall paper on my PC at work.
