    You are not a photographer

This site should give you a chuckle. It's dedicated to outing those among us who call themselves "photographers" but really have no clue what they are doing. Hopefully it will make you feel better about your own photography.

Re: You are not a photographer

I get it, and got a couple laughs out of it.

Don, I think the point is that there are a lot of people out there that enjoy taking photos, and not everyone is great, but that's ok. The problem comes when those "no good at all" types claim to be pro's.

A friend of mine actually posted some recent pics from her session with a "pro." They were unfortunate.

Re: You are not a photographer

Very often I am amazed when I look at different photos on websites that claim to do professional portraits and weddings. I just cannot believe the quality of the pictures that they use to promote their business. If they have picked the best examples they have to show off the work they do it makes me wonder what the ones they didn't use looked like. Some sites are very impressive but a lot just look mediocre or out right bad. I have been taking pictures for a little over 40 years and have sold many of them to support my photography. I do think that I could do as good as a lot of the sites that I have looked at but I am not a professional. Some of them are way past my abilities. I have to wonder if they even look at some of the photos that they display or sell customers. I hope some day to be able to say "I am a Professional Photographer" but until then I will just keep plugging along, Jeff

lol, me too. It's nice to see that I'm not that bad but even that is probably only by the grace of what I've learned here, and by burying myself in mounds of photo mags and books. It's a bit unnerving though since I certainly fall into the category of no formal photo education, dedicated facebook page, and rates...what rates?
