    Yipee Skipee!!!!

Just got e-mailed by Canon Factory Service. Non warranty repair-$173, repair and return in 10 to 15 working days from time of consent and payment. That's a lot better than the 1-2 month estimate I got on the phone before sending it in for repair. So I feel better. I called in my credit card number and gave the OK to proceed. Hopefully they start on Monday and I get it back in two weeks.

    Re: Congratulations!

    not always......

Had his lens needed a new element or some serious repair with a BACK ORDERED PART.... 60 DAYS would be average.

A friend sent his 500f4 AFS in for a new front element that came loose after 9 months( it happens) ... they gave him a loner 500 AF-I for 4 months while the element was shipped and installed. He went canon right after that with a 600F4IS

That was not a NIKON dig, but a fact that a few ALWAYS slip through the crack and sometimes repairs aren't just labor time, but waiting in line and waiting on parts ;)
