    Finally #1000

After months upon months of diligent typing, I finally hit the big 1000. And do I have anything earth-shattering? Nope. No cross country moves here, no super exciting top secret news.

I did, however, suck it up and order the 24-70 f/2.8L ( I think that's what it is). It's huge, and very heavy. I was expecting it to be bigger, but was surprised at how big.

So here's the first one with the new lens, and my landmark 1000th post.

Congrats, Adina. Are you using the 70mm end of that lens for portraits?
With a model like that, you don't need any earthshaking news. How are the kids (and Mom) enjoying summer?

Congrats Adina!! Having just reached this landmark myself I know how nice it feels to have achieved this goal. And yes your right it seems that you are just typing your fingers to the bone and not getting any where on that post count sometimes. It is great to have contributors like you with great images and postive comments. Thanks for helping keep the site strong.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Congratulations Adina!

Great shot of your daughter. As OT said, you don't need anything earthshattering - just being you is the best way to celebrate. You certainly have made great strides in your photography during these past 1000 posts.

Congratulations on the new lens. Looks like a winner.

Yup, I'm so not used to being able to zoom, so for the half hour today I had it out, it was mostly at 70 mm. I am going to try to get outside tomorrow and play with it a bit more.

We are enjoying summer, although it is flying right by. My oldest just finished a week of day camp, which was harder for me than her. Her biggest issue was a bee sting. My baby is chomping at the bit for school to start. She can't wait to ride the bus, and have her own classroom. I've been shooting pretty much every weekend, so busy on that end.

    Thanks for asking!

Congrats on your 1000th post, and your new lens.
Yes, it is a big lens, surprisingly so even for a fast wide to normal zoom. Even on the mammoth 1D it is a big lens. On the other EOS cameras, it is absolutely gargantuan without the vertical battery grip attached. But like its predecessor, the 28-70 f2.8L, you will find it an indispensable part of your armamentarium. Now I need to dust off my 1D and EF lenses, put away my toy Panasonic camera, and get serious about photography again, and more importantly, post more often so I can get to 1000
    Again, congratulations.

Aw, that tardiness is going to cost you something...

.. what could it possibly be...

    ... something big...

    ... something important...

    ... something I DON'T HAVE.

Oh, well, I guess I'll think of what that ONE SPECIAL THING IS later. Until then, enjoy your lens and reading through that 1000 club manual. It's a doosey!

    We knew you'd get there!

    Great 1000th post too!

Congratulations on your new lens as well. But I'm a little confused. I don't see a 24-70mm f2.8 in the Nikon catalog. :-O

And what's with the "L"? Heavy fingers hitting extra keys? ;-)

Just picking on you! Congratulations again!
