    something different, a hurricane . . .

Sat through a small cat 1 hurricane last night. Never lost power or phones, but the fiber optic DSL had problems at the BellSouth server end. Here's a couple of shots from the neighborhood. We are in the Cutler Ridge area of Miami that got over 15 inches of rain in a few hours. Luckily my street was built up after Andrew in 92 and stayed relatively high and dry. Just a little seepage of water into one room through a leak in a wall. It's new construction from an addition and the builder is already taking care of everything. The kids, animals and wife are just fine.

Wow! I'm so glad you posted and let us know you're okay. I'm sorry about the water in your yard - and the leak. It looks like some of your neighborhood didn't do so well.

    Keep us updated.

Believe me, we've got nothing to gripe about. Our street had it relatively easy compared to the rest of the area. Thanks for the thoughts.

Be glad you don't live in New Orleans...that 'cane is flirting with the Worst Case Scenario. Thanks for the pix! I'm following hurricane discussions from a bunch of meteorologists on a weather bulletin board, but they just post maps and stuff, not actual damage pix. It's interesting to see what you guys actually have gone through.

My sister and niece live in New Port Richey - gulf coast. Hopefully this hurricane will change it's mind and go back out to sea.

    Keep us updated.

Right now the storm is a cat 5 with a very large ara of hurricane force winds. That translates to a really big impact area. Its heading for the panhandle area. Everyone's prayers should be with the New Orleans and surrrounding area's residents.
