Talking Some Xmas themed portraits (pics attached)

I had two shoots this weekend, both with Christmas themes. One was with a family - all the grandkids and great grandkid. The other was NOT so family oriented...it was a littel xmas surprise for her fiance.

    Canon 10D, 28-105, 70-200, and 15mm fisheye

Feel free to comment or criticize.

In this next one, I did not prompt the kid to do this - he just did it. I'm so glad I was quick with the trigger to capture it.

Wow Andy! The last two shots are ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I've rarely seen better glamour shots. There is such a complicity between the camera and your model. And the whole idea is so simple too.... Simply awesome!

I also like the first two shots of the kid. Was he showing the finger by chance or did you 'guide' him?! That is going to provoke lots of laughter for sure in this family!

The family group picture is probably the most classic and less 'sparkly' of the bunch. I think (but this is just my amateur opinion) that you went a bit too far with the burning on the left side of the frame. It is too straight and the edges are too pronounced. But this is nothing you can't eventually compensate for.

I take it that the business is booming?... Congratulations! I am looking forward to more of your pics.

Thank you for sharing your talent with us. You will be the envy of many here.... starting with me!

    Cheers,

    Steph.

Thanks, Steph - I appreciate the compliments. I've known the model for about 3 years. We're pretty comfortable around one another.

I just got my proofs back on the family portrait shots - the prints look way better than whats in the browser, even the burnt one... it doesn't look quite so burnt printed out.

As for the kid, the only prompting I did was to say, "Hey big guy - do something funny!" That's when he flipped the bird, and his mother almost lost it. I couldn't help but laugh. What a great Xmas card that would be - cute pic on the outside of the kid, with the text "so, you don't believe in Santa Claus" - then the bird picture on the inside, "Well Merry Freakin' Christmas to you too!"

I love that one shot of the couple against the blurred Christmas tree. Nice bokeh on that one, good facial expression and just right cropping. That would be a good photo postcard to send to the relatives. Great capture there on the little dude's half peace sign Thumbs Up
