    SF Night Photography?

Anyone in the SF Bay Area interested in getting together on a weeknight for some San Francisco night photography? cr_mmurillo and I were talking about making a trip to the City and hitting 3 or 4 spots for night photos. I was thinking we could meet for a late dinner and then go to Twin Peaks, Crissy Field, Treasure Island, and maybe one other spot. San Francisco is great for night photos, but if you're like me, you never quite get organized and motivated enough to make it happen. If we get a group together and make a plan, it will happen.

Sounds like a great Idea. The financial district at night is pretty good too. We can capture the night life of the Bay Area.

Aw, have fun guys. I used to love getting night shots of the Bay Area. From the Oakland Hills as well as the City side.

Here are a few from the good ole days

    Hey John,

I would be interested, and with it getting dark earlier it shouldn't be a super late night. I wouldn't mind shooting at dusk to get the purple sky. Let me know because I will need to get some T64 for the large format and the RZ.

Locations for me would be Union Square and the surrounding area. A lot of interesting people and locations. North Beach would be cool too. I only have wide angle, 70mm is the longest I have so Treasure Island would be a tough shoot for me.

    Cheers,
    Loren

Hi everyone! Looooooong time since I've posted - I've been on photo trips with most of you years ago before I went digital!! I would be down for joining some evening in the near future. Tuesdays and Thursdays are generally best for me, but I can get out of other stuff if I need to

Rick, I remember you posting those shots years ago. They're still incredible!!

Wow, what a warm reception!! Funny to see some of those photos - I should have sold that Elan II before the bottom fell out on the used film body market!!

I'll check back Monday after I get back from a little camping to see if we have a time set up for a night outing. Hopefully Desolation Wilderness is good for some pretty photos

I would love to join you. Pick a night and let me know. I have a pretty busy schedule but would like meet everyone and go with you. BTY the Rockridge Library photo show comes down at the end of this month if you haven't had a chance to see it. I was able to get a photo show at the Rockridge Cafe because of this exhibit.

    Cheers,

So it's looking like Thursday, November 2nd is it. Were do we meet and where do we want to shoot? I was thinking we should meet for a late dinner and then visit three spots for photos. The most obvious photo location is Twin Peaks. So I think we should do that for sure. Any other ideas?

If it's 11/2, I could maybe meet up with you about 9:00pm. Twin Peaks is good, Treasure Island, North Beach, Mission Street, Chinatown, Lombard St. Civic Center, Castro St., Haight Ashbury, Noe Valley, Marina district, Fishermans Warf etc....

Whenever you can meet up with us is fine. We can probably make up some sort of general schedule and give you a cell number when we get closer. I was thinking we should meet at about 8. We can meet somewhere to eat, since I always eat late, anyway. And then that gives some padding for people like you who want to meet up later.

Do you know a good loaction to shoot from on Treasure Island? I've only gotten off there by accident. I have have a vague idea of the general area to shoot from. But I wouldn't know exactly where to go. I am thinking of maybe making a little scouting trip.

As far as other shooting locations. I was just thinking of big panoramic views. But that isn't what it has to be. I wouldn't be too psyched about shooting in the Mission late at night - unless someone's packing heat There are some really good views from Potrero Hill and Noe Valley.

From SF just take the Treasure Island exit (left lane) and just before you enter the old navy guard station gate there is parking and great views on the left of SF. This is where all the tourists buses stop during the day. I could possibly meet you there at 9pm.
