These are nothing special but it's where I'm at at the moment. A couple of selfers using the self timer on the D700.

In front of a giant cow in Dymond, ON.

(It was also after this shot I decided that we *weren't* camping that night in -5 windy weather. We stayed at a nearby Motel.)

On the Friday, the three folks in Stormtrooper helmets were wearing them when we were stuck in traffic in Barrie...other cars were slowing down and taking photos. I couldn't wear the Darth Vader helmet while driving, serious vision impairment.

I for one am certainly aware of it, would be pretty hard to miss how easy they are on the eyes. But then some of us old coots balance up the thread pretty well with the opposite effect on the eyes.

I think it counts as a self-portrait when you set up the shot yourself, but let someone else push the button...

I've been wanting to do this for a while and finally got the chance today. They didn't turn out quite like I wanted, so I'll be trying again. One of them I converted to B&W with a little more contrast and its a little more of what I want so here is the color and b&w

    Re: Self Portraits 2009

Well folks, I normally don't do self-portraits but I got REALLY bored late tonight and decided to do something off the wall. So, I slapped on my 550ex to the XTi and set it on manual at 1/8th power bounced off the ceiling, camera on tripod, settings at f/3.5, 1/200th, ISO200. And a little post-processing to help the subject out a bit. At least the catchlights look good.

I've been in kind of a photography funk for the past year, but I'm trying to rekindle the flame by thinking about buying some decent studio lights like Alien Bees and experimenting with portrait photography.

    Anyhoo, here's the shot.

Nice job Amber. the color is nice but I think the B&W is my favorite of the two. I like the innovative angle of shot. Keep experimenting you could give Adina a run for her money on the tiara thing. She needs a good challenge, it's a cinch none of the old coots can do it.

I really like your lighting Ray nice job. Most all of my self portraits are done from boredom with what I'm doing photographically at the time. Seems like a good way to break the monotony. Be looking forward to more selfers from you and some portrait work.
