Rain Photography

Has anyone ever taken pictures of the rain, not the rain against anything, but actually freezing the rain drops as they fall?
I attempted it today, but I'm not sure how well it worked. The day was cloudy, but very bright, it wasn't dreary and it rained all day. I tried some with flash as well, hoping that the light would reflect off the rain and so make it show up.
Oh, and randomly off the subject... I shoot in the RAW file format with my D100, can I produce a 16x20 from that?

I'm guessing that you shot it on film - one of the nice things about digital of course is the instant feedback. You can make adjustments because you know what's working and what isn't. I guess I'd stick with the flash to freeze motion and a telephoto like maybe a 200 to compress distance (make the rain drops look closer together). Probably will take some experimenting.

16x20 out of a D100 RAW file? No problemo! I've gone bigger with jpegs from my Fuji S2.

Actually I shot this using my d100, I just hadn't pulled them off the card yet. This is what I came up with though. I'll probably post these over in the photo critique as well, so I can get feedback on them.
