Re: Post Your Bird Images Here!!!!!!!

I'm going to have to look back through some old pictures to see if I can find some to make you work. All I have are some easy ones, but here is another that I don't think has been on yet.

I do ideed know what it is, but YOU STOLE my next idea for a new species!!!!! HMMMM, I want ALMO to ID this bird , since he is my vice president and needs to man the watch in my absence

Almo, this is a pretty easy ID if you look at the field marks and KEEP IN MIND it's a species that lives in your area YEAR ROUND ;)

    Hi all,

Here is another bird specimen from South Africa. I'm having a problem to ID it.
It is a very common type of bird, and going though some bird ID books, I have come up without a Positive ID. There are many species that look the same.
I will keep looking and keep you up to date as soon as I get the right name.

Another shot from back in May, again I don't think this bird has made an appearance in this thread yet. Should be another easy one for you Paul.

Here's yet another shot from back in May, took this one about twenty yards from the last bird I posted. I would guess this bird was just passing through.

WARBLING VIREO, SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a LEAST FLYCATCHER(I think)

The flycatcher could also be a willow/alder(willow most likely), but I can't judge the beak length in that image too well

Same bird more of a profile but the picture isn't as sharp, don't know if this will help with the bill size for ID.

    FEMALE pileated woodpecker

MALE downy woodpecker(barring on the undertail feathers)

    AND

    FEMALE red-bellied woodpecker

BTW.. I shot a YELLOW BELLIED SAPSUCKER on the 4TH(the day AFTER MY BIRTHDAY)

Went out today not much action in the bird world. Most were either way up in the trees or in thick bushes. It's much harder to find them now that they don't sing so much. It's been almost 24 hours with no posts so I'll add one I shot today.

    Red eyed vireo.

Mike, the NEXT cold front that rolles through with a wind out of the north..... BIRDS will be dropping from the sky ;) It will be like that until the first week of actober !

Passerines(warblers and such) are early insect feeders, so as soon as the sun hits the trees..tweet tweet.MIXED FEEDING FLOCKS will travel through the woods early and later in the day, with a few scattered mid day birds if sunny.

If you happen to have HERCULES' CLUB growing around you.... Black-throated blue warblers eat the berries like mad!!!!

Second shot from today , I think this should be reply # 500. This thread is really slowing down Paul I don't think you'll make 2000. Anyway back to the bird it is a warbler so that means trouble for me. I was in the book store the other day looking for a book on warblers they only had one and I wasn't impressed with it so I didn't buy it, guess I'll keep looking.

prairie warbler (I need to refresh to SEE the previous image...GRRRRRR)

    Mike ...

The only WARBLER book to own is this...

    http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...95783216&itm=5

There is a small pocket sized book called "warblers of ontario"(30 pages or so..I think) that my birding partner Bill has that is pretty good in the field, but the peterson book above is THE book to own!
