Same bird more of a profile but the picture isn't as sharp, don't know if this will help with the bill size for ID.

Went out today not much action in the bird world. Most were either way up in the trees or in thick bushes. It's much harder to find them now that they don't sing so much. It's been almost 24 hours with no posts so I'll add one I shot today.

    Red eyed vireo.

Mike, the NEXT cold front that rolles through with a wind out of the north..... BIRDS will be dropping from the sky ;) It will be like that until the first week of actober !

Passerines(warblers and such) are early insect feeders, so as soon as the sun hits the trees..tweet tweet.MIXED FEEDING FLOCKS will travel through the woods early and later in the day, with a few scattered mid day birds if sunny.

If you happen to have HERCULES' CLUB growing around you.... Black-throated blue warblers eat the berries like mad!!!!

Second shot from today , I think this should be reply # 500. This thread is really slowing down Paul I don't think you'll make 2000. Anyway back to the bird it is a warbler so that means trouble for me. I was in the book store the other day looking for a book on warblers they only had one and I wasn't impressed with it so I didn't buy it, guess I'll keep looking.

prairie warbler (I need to refresh to SEE the previous image...GRRRRRR)

    Mike ...

The only WARBLER book to own is this...

    http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...95783216&itm=5

There is a small pocket sized book called "warblers of ontario"(30 pages or so..I think) that my birding partner Bill has that is pretty good in the field, but the peterson book above is THE book to own!

the closest I can come with this bird is a plumage for I an not familiar with of the white eyed vireo.

The IRIS in this image ISN'T white and the YELLOW eyering looks WHITE!! That must be from the lighting, or IT'S NOT A WHITE EYED VIREO!

That's the bird I thought it was, before I downsized for this site you could see the white of its eye. I'll have to check out that warbler book, I think that might be the one I was looking at on the Amazon site the other night. The one I saw in the book store didn't have much more info than "Sibleys Guide to Birds" , I don't look at the field manuals to much I don't need more things to carry.

I have 90% of my images on external HD and can't find my power cord right now..........

But here is a yellow throated vireo from the delaware water gap area taken june 29th.

The file was a quick crop/edit for my birding partner to PROVE to him what it was ;)
