It was done before I knew anything about post processing.

The 2nd photo was taken in Central Park. This isn't a great photo - and they are "just streetbirds," but I always liked this picture - also done before I knew how to do post processing.

The first one is a MALE white breasted nuthatch due to the black nape or back of the neck(compared to the female's greyish nape) . They do infact have small looking eyes too.

The second is a pair of juvenile house sparrows I do believe . The female looks JUST like this , but juvenile(first summer) has a more defined stripe behind the eye ;)

    A feeder shot

I took this a few years ago with a F100 / 80-200F2.8 at 150MM on a tripod with a cable release run inside my balcony door. I had the flash set a bit too high I think though.(-.7ev)

This is a full frame bad scan of male and female house finches eating black oil with a little nyger thistle mixed in.

    here's a new species ;)

NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL roosting in a honeysuckle vine infested cedar about 5 feet above the ground The only defence this tiny owl has is to stay still and stay hidden. If jumped from it's roost it instantly is mobbed by other birds and a hawk eats it very soon after.

Believe it or not.... you can actually reach out and pick them up.... BUT DON'T!!!!!!!!

    I TRY

I must admit though... some fall female warblers are very tough as are the "hummingbirds" of south/ central america and a vast majority of non US passerines ;)

KEEP THEM COMING! I have been editing images for Dukes estate for 2 days.... I only take a break to sleep, work and ID birds between HVAC guys giving me estimates on a NEW central air system since mine took a SH_T late last week(88 in my house with 95% humidity I bet)

Malachite Sunbird in non breeding plumage ?????as in the plumage the males get right after the young are fledged as to not draw attention to the young

This is an educated guess , as I can't see the TAIL

Well I knew that heron wasn't about to stump ya, lol. So how about this one? The coolest-looking bird on earth, IMO. I believe they're from the Amazon forest.

BOATBILL or BOAT-BILLED HERON native to BRAZIL and the surrounding areas....

Yes that bill is quite a site huh, but a stone curlew is pretty high on the cool looking bird list also.

My apologies as I mistakenly said it was probably from the Amazon, and that might have misled you. It's actually a shoebill stork, similar in looks to the boatbill, but the shoebill is found in Africa - Uganda and Zambia, I think.

RIGHT YOU ARE! PURPLE/ GREY in color is the shoebill, while the boatbill is bicolored.

Between youramazon tip, my house being 92 degrees and humid as ???? and having gotten 7 hours of sleep since FRIDAY.......... oopsy

But have no fear, the central air is being replaced tomorrow and IA plan to see how cold it can get
