    Leon,

    You rock!

Not only did you add a post to my soon to be HALL OF FAME thread, but you are now one post closer to that magic 1000 :)

Thanks for adding your great egret to my thread that makes me smile !

Thursday starts the hawkwatch, so I will hopefully get a low goshawk, roughlegged hawk or eagle by november ;) I actually get paid to photograph them this year too!!!!

    Sure I have :)

We also have FEMALE american blackducks here coastally, though coastal birding isn't what I enjoy as much as hunting down neotropicals .

I prefer to spend my springs/ early summers chasing the tropical birds that come here to breed(namely warblers, tanagers...)

You nearly got me!!! I am not familiar with EVERY bird in the world(I seriously doubt more than a handfull of people are) and at first I thought it may be an odd looking rail from that beak and stubby tail.

    BUT.......

The shape, color, beak and habitat PLUS the fact you say it's common lead me to believe it's a MAGPIE on second thought :)

You are joking right? You don't really believe that I can't ID a SIGNET do you? That bill and neck are a give away!

Being as Florida has no TRUE WILD breeding population I will say if it's a US species it's a mute swan.

NO!!!! BECAUSE those are cygnets :) I know I spelled it wrong :)

(Since you were at ISO 200 and 1/1000th editing in PS7)....I took the liberty of running it through CS2 to see if I was truely wrong.... NOPE :)

That file needed +.7ev dude if that's how it looked from the camera:)

No it took PS7 to make it look like that. Like I said it was a total crap shot. Still you are incorrect. They are not cygnets. I'll tell you what they are if you like, but I'd really like you to guess it.

I will take your word for it, as goslings are that color and shape.

But of the 17 subspecies of "canada goose" including the 4 cackling geese none I know of have necks that long and bills that EXACT shape.

The last few I put up were pretty easy, here's a pretty bad shot of a bird that was high in a tree. I cropped this to show as much detail in the bird as I could. This picture was taken back on 5/15 .

You have a breeding plumage magnoia warbler migrating through mostlikely(very few stay)

Judging by the wing panel and cheek , I would say it's a female. If the throat was visible we would have a third thing to base the M/F on, but I am pretty sure FEMALE is the sex :)
