Nice Robert. Your friend is lucky to have someone like you. Most people would be paying big buck to get this kind of quality pics of their child. She is a cutie.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thank you Larry! I know she appreciates it. She's mentioned on several occasions how nice it is that I go to her or meet her at different locations. Last year we met at the Waterfowl Museum for the photo's.

As for the quality, I believe that these are some of the best ones I've done for her. The practice is definitely paying off.

I really like the last three.. in the others.. she just seems.. out of place. I'm not sure what it is really that makes her seem out of place to me, just does.

I think that #3 is great! It's awesome that you're obviously practicing and improving a great deal!

Are you getting model releases so you can use these as examples on your website? Eventually you'll want to include a variety of shots like this to showcase your talent!!

Thanks for the comments Amber. Her mother choose the location, which was Fort Macon, a Civil War era fort. I'm not sure why she looks out of place to you. It's a pretty scenic place to shoot portraits at, and some of the local wedding photographers use it on a regular basis. I'm glad you liked the last three. I am fortunate to live in a coastal county.

Her mother is coming to see me today to pick up the photo's. I'm going to get her permission to use some of them on my website.

Thanks for the comments my friend!

I like the shore scenes but have to agree the first ones seem out of place.
Cute little girls and prisons don't go together imo.
The mother's and daughter's opinion is what counts though.

    Hehehe! Frog, you're a hoot.

Fort Macon is not a prison. It was originally built to protect Beaufort Inlet from pirates. It was the scene of a battle during the Civil War. It was reactivated during WWI and again during WWII, where they set up submarine watches. I'm not sure when the bars were installed, but they were in every window when I was a boy, though most of them have been taken out now.

Being a piece of local history, we take it as a scenic location.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Wink Hey Frog...

My bad. Fort Macon was used as a prison for a brief period.

Here's the link to the Fort Macon site:

Now I know why there were bars...

Well you cant go against the mother hehe. Its fine, Its just not a place I would choose to shoot a child. I think part of it might be her dress too.. very "spring" dress and doesn't "fit" with the backgrounds to me. The pictures are good.. I just would have chosen someplace different for her. I'm sure it is a very scenic place.

Maybe thats it? I know I cant see much of it, but I just get this very ominous she shouldn't be there feeling from the pictures. **shrugs** again.. cant go against the mother ;)

No you can't, and I wasn't about to.

    :-D

You may have nailed it with the "spring" dress. That may have been it.

As far as Fort Macon goes, it is a local attraction. I guess you could say it's a local thing. Kind of like the lighthouse. The locals love it, and can't get enough of it.

    Thanks for the comments Amber!
