Which photo paper do YOU use?

Hi everybody,

I recently experimented with different photo papers for my Epson 1280 inkjet printer.

I found that there is a wide difference in color and rendition from one paper to another. For instance, while the Premium Glossy paper from Epson just require a -2pt of correction in the magenta channel, the Classic Pearl from Ilford necessitates a correction of -8pts if you want to avoid an overall magenta cast... and that's just one difference among many others...

I know, I know... I should use the RGB profile and profile my whole system .... Well, I am not there yet and I still like to play with the color correction pannel of the printer driver!

Anyway, I was wondering whether you would like to let me (and all of us who are reading this) know what is your favorite photo paper and if you have any tip regarding its/their use...

Hi Steph:
I don't print photos too often from my HP photosmart, but when I do, I use Tetenal glossy (a little expensive but the best photo inkjet paper out there imho, and very water resistant after the ink dries), or if I'm feeling frugal, Kodak or HP glossy. Most of the time I print from my Olympus P-400 dye sub printer, very archival, definitely water proof, but a trifle pricey ($2 a sheet including the stretch of ribbon used for printing).

I have been very impressed by sublimation printers for office work... I had the feeling that they do not mix colors very well though... it seems that I'm wrong on this point!
