    Orchids from NYC Orchid Show

These aren't the "awesome" images of Orchids we see at times around here.

Yesterday while in NYC I joined the long line to check out the Orchid show. It was awesome. It was under a thick sort of see-through tent and the lighting wasn't great so they're a bit soft - but still beautiful flowers none-the-less. There were hundreds of people there all bumping elbows - but it was a lot of fun. Here are a few of the results.

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, I really enjoyed the show. It was only $5 and the line was huge but went very quickly. There were so many orchids of different sizes, shapes, colors. Awesome.

Thanks Chunk. It's really a nice camera. There are quite a few differences between the Rebel 300 and the XT. I'm feeling my way around. Just started reading the manual on the bus to NY.

Thanks for your comments Jared. The first few pics I shot with this camera right after I got it and before I got the flu weren't that great. I was afraid I made a mistake by upgrading. However, I got the opportunity to really check it out this weekend - and now I'm happy.

    Liz,

No problem. I know the feeling of double guessing yourself on new gear! But usually it seems to pay off well!

    Nice shooting again,

Re: Orchids from NYC Orchid Show

Thanks OT. Coming from you - the one who shoots those awesome flowers, this is a fine compliment.

I was surprised they weren't softer than they are due to the light, the crowd, the fact I was shooting all handheld - and me with a bit of the 'ol camera shake.

This camera is soooooo nice! I'm glad I took the plunge! And now that my income tax return will be on it's way, I can finish paying for it.

BTW, didn't you post an orchid a little while back?

I can't rmember the last time I shot an orchid and if I did they were no where near the quality of what you displayed.
