A new very dark series i'm working on...

I messed up! Here we go again!

The link goes to a series i'm working on, all with slowed shutter speeds, all meant to show the dark side of people (photographing more people during the week).

http://bizfx.com/darkness/ <- link to the directory of images from this series, so far.

I aim to frighten the senses! lol

Here are two (self portraits) that is not in that series, but inspired it:

Did you click the link to see those images? I'm trying to get ideas for more photos. Guess I need to watch some more black & white horror flicks - that's where I seem to get the most inspiration! ;)

Hey, anyone on MySpace.com yet? I'm using it to get some of my photography seen out there and maybe pick up some clients - a lot of musicians are on there, as well as other types (some pretty odd ones as well!) Hey, it's free!

    Dear Janie,

Wow! Very dark, moody, and creepy. I like it. If you are looking for inspiration, or more a mood, try reading some of Poe. One of my favorite authors. He has lots of ideas you could photographically depict. Come to think of it, The Fall of the House of Usher seems rather appropriate. They are also very high contrast. I guess this is because of the long shutter. Very fascinating, in an odd creepy sort of way.

yeah, ahem, scarier still, that's my nephew. I took the pic and let him play with it in photoshop - he definately watches too many scary movies! Apparently he'd been having nightmares and thought he could create himself as an avenger in his nightmare. Hey, whatever works, eh? I shot it last night and he had slept over - he slept fine all night and said it worked. Gee, maybe they should use this stuff for child psychology? lol

You know, I have no idea why, but i've never actually read any Poe. I've always meant to but haven't. Hmm, thanks for the reminder! Love the band Poe as well! lol Jotting this down right now!

I have been shooting this series at night using very little light, sometimes just a flashlight that I point on parts of the face that I want to burn out more, like the eyes or teeth, etc. The challenge is to find people who can sit still without moving for that long and can follow your artistic direction on call. Think about it - a full 30 seconds of sitting still! lol
