    New old toys :-)

My bid on ebay has arrived!!! 400 f5.6L, EOS-3, 1.4x II, 28-80 Tamron zoom. Not bad for $1275. All in pretty close to mint condition with their original boxes. I'm the photographer for one of the local school's Christmas program, so I might take the 400 for a spin there tomorrow night, but that f5.6 will definitely be a handicap, especially without IS. I'm really surprised how fast it focuses compared to the 70-200 f2.8L. Haven't taken the EOS-3 for a workout yet, but I'll take it to the office Christmas party tomorrow afternoon if I can still remember how to load film. Also got the 50mm f1.8 Mk I from ebay the other day. Really pristine condition, not a single ding or scratch anywhere, came in original bag and box. I still think I overpaid for it ($175) but man is it SHARP. It might actually be sharper than my 50mm f1.4 usm, but not sharper than my f2.5 compact macro. It does seem slower to focus however than I remember from 15 years ago when I used it with my very first ever EOS 630.
Well, thanks for reading my exuberant ramblings, just oh so excited with my new toys, even if they aren't new.
