    My first telephoto pictures ever

For the first time I have a lens great than 100mm, using the 70-200 IF IS lens from Canon. Using C1-Pro, my 10D, and my T-mobile hot spot I was able to convert and save three different versions of each image before I got home.

Here are a couple from my littel brother's track meet from today. These are straight from the camera, with WB and contrast adjustements with a 8x10 crop.

I'm liking the new setup more and more. The skin tones are so nice and once I get the focus lock figured out I will be happy.

    Hey Loren, I'm amazed that...

with your experience you've never shot with a lelephoto lens! Isn't it fantastic? I can really appreciate the compression you get with a telephoto. It's like having an extra-wide aperature with the extra background blur you get.

    Looks like you're having fun!

I have to say, looks like the girls are a bit more toned than the guys in that school?

    Cool nice captures

Hi Loren: great shots man. brings back fond memories of my high school track days (I ran the mile)
I'm surprised too that this is your first venture with teles. I'm predominantly a tele shooter, not really sure why. I think because I like the subject isolation and compression of field, but might be the fact that most of my lenses are teles

I also ran track and x-country in high school. A part of me just wanted to get back on the track and start running. It was cool to see my little brother run, he's the one on the last picture. He's a freshman and this is his first year running track.

I am a total wide angle lens guy, so it took me awhile to buy a telephoto lens, but the 70-200 is such a great zoom.

Thanks for the comments fellow miler.

Those girls are seniors, and the little guy on the last picture is my little brother who is a freshman. I've always loved wide angle and small prime lenses, but this lens is a lot of fun. Especially with the the 10D where I have a 300mm lens with the 1.6 crop.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. It was fun to be out there and take advantage of not working in a positive way.
