Last night, Amber (26-year-old) came over to the house for a photo session. Here's some of her shots that I will include in my portfolio.























Amber brought her cousin and a friend to help her out. They highly recommended that she NOT show these pictures to her husband UNTIL he had fully recovered from hernia surgery.

Overall, Andy, looks like you had a very creative and successful shoot. These are a nice sampling of varied settings, lighting, and posing, so good job to the both of you.
#1- nice setting, she looks a bit dark on my moniter. #2 - great smile, nice shot, would be a super shot if her eyes were burning a hole through your lens, IMO. #3 - I like the pose, not sure about the crop at her forearms. Good exposure. #4 - classy, probably my favorite of the set. #5 - another great smile, nice pose, on my moniter her dress is lost in the background. #6 - casual, yet sexy with the open blouse. I'm OK but some might question the chopped fingers. #7 - fun shot. #8 - my least favorite, something just seems off with her face, expression, and softness(PS'd?) #9 - another nicely lit shot, nice angle, looks like you may have caught her between expressions. #10 - Great ... my co-favorite, love the mood. Nice job. #11 - another casual, cute shot, and I again find myself wishing she were staring through your lens.

Andy, sorry...I realize that you didn't really ask for comments on these images. She's lovely, and they would be a nice addition to any photog's portfolio.

Ooh fun stuff. I was wondering what kind of light or filter you are using to get that color tones in a lot of the photos. It makes them all seem like they were shot just at sunset. Her golden skin really jumps. Great stuff.

Thank you, Charles - that's exactly what I was looking for and I greatly appreciate it. She was a very shy gal, and you had to really draw her out of her shell to give sexy looks straight at the camera. Of course, it didn't help that her cousin and friend were in the room as "protectors".

I'm just using 3 smith-victor 12inch reflectors with 500w tungsten bulbs in them. I'm shooting with the White Balance set to tungsten and a custom set of a little more saturation than normal. Of course, it didn't hurt that she was a tan goddess either.

In my glamour photo past, I always used 500W tungsten lights into white umbrellas and reflectors ... loved the warm look. Your images have that look. :-)

Andy, you are producing some excellent portraits! A bit warm for my taste but nonetheless great work. Numbers 7, 9 & 11 are my favorites. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks, Ray - I need to callibrate my monitor. They look a little warmer than I'd like on screen, but look much better printed. If I set them up to look good on my monitor - then the prints turn out a little bland. Will have to work on that.

BTW, I bought a 38inch reflector for this shoot and mostly used the gold/silver stripe side. It gave a beautiful warm glow to the shadowed side of the face. I might have to try what Charles did and use umbrellas with the floods. That could produce some really soft light. As it stands, I'm using 12inch diffusers on two of the lights. The other light is mainly for the background or hair.

My favorites are the same as Charles (#4 & #10). Can't think of anything to add. Charles is our resident glamour expert, so definitely heed his advice. Think of him as the Yoda of Glamour.

These are the model's clothes - I had no hand in choosing what she would bring to the shoot... - I did, however, have a hand in choosing outfits from what she brought with her AND how she would wear them.

I'm with you though - the schoolgirl look was the last on the hanger - she even had the men's tie to go with it. I saw it and thought - yeah - we'll save this one for the end of the shoot when she's had time to relax and is having fun.
