Looking for bird & reptile book southeastern US

I am looking for a book that will identify birds and reptiles in the South Eastern United States. You would think that if I would ask Google I would get plenty to choose from but I guess I didn't ask the right question because I didn't get what I wanted. If you have and suggestions would you please reply. Thanks, Jeff

I think that you would be better off with separate books. I don't know the reptiles, but for birds I would look for:

The Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, David Allen Sibley

A Field Guide to the Birds of Eastern and Central North America, Roger Tory Peterson

I think you would be better off with an Eastern US rather than just SE US so that you will get the migratory birds that just fly through the area.

I would second the Sibley book for birds. Not sure about the reptiles. Dylan, Paul, Sushigaijin or Almo might have a better idea on what to choose for those.

    Peterson's for reptiles

Although that just gets down to the species level, and some select subspecies. The way that everything is chopped up these days there are dozens of subspecies of the same critter. Just the breakdown on the slimy salamander, Plethodon glutinosis, is mind boggling.
