    Just sold my first prints

I am thrilled that today I have sold my first two images as prints. The buyer wants to take them to Australia for a family member. I got 70 Euros for the pair. The sunset shot is almost a meter wide and the other about 70 cm wide. They are unmounted.

What do you guys and galls reckon as to the price paid? I do not want to be greedy but also do not want to sell myself short.

Congratulations on your first sale!!! It is a really great feeling to know that other people like your work enough to pay for it. Keep up the good work and I hope you sell a lot more in the future. By the way both of those are very nice images. Jeff

Re: Just sold my first prints

Congrats on your sale! Beautiful images.

As far as the price goes, (70 Euros is aprox. $90 US) it's hard to say without knowing what your costs were, but I think what you got is a fair price for both parties. My general rule of thumb is to figure up my cost for the materials used in the final product (print, matte, frame etc.) and then multiply that by 4. That gives me a ballpark figure to start with and then I can adjust from there to come up with my final price. The extra money above the cost helps to cover my time, education, equipment expenses and everything else that went into creating the image.

    Thanks guys.

Mike, The price would be about spot on then using your criteria as I only paid for the prints to be done so a maximum of 15 Euros for them both.
