Just a "heads up" on the new Photography As Art Forum

Hey all,

I just wanted to update you on the status of the new forum so emotionally discussed in Irakly's recent thread here.

After considering much of the feedback from that thread, as well as a few jam sessions with the other site moderators, Photo John has decided to create the forum, naming it Photography As Art with this description:

For sharing and discussion about art theory, meaning in photography, and photographic art...

I'd also like to announce that, in addition to Irakly, both I and long time member and photo artist Megan Green will co-moderate it. We hope to have things up and running ASAP.

Thanks everyone for your patience with this. I also hope that those harboring bad feelings as a result of things said in Irakly's thread will try to put them behind them and approach this exciting new venture with an open mind.

I promise that the Photography As Art Forum will NOT simply be an endless string of banal arguments about art and snobbish putdowns of people's work. Hopefully, it will give photographers of ALL skill levels stimulating and motivating discussions as well as provide key resources and ideas to help pursue the artistic aspect of photography...
