    Great shot Ray!!

It looks like Speed has some competition!

Humor me here.. Is the 300D the same as the Digital Rebel?? I'm not too up to date on the Canon line. ;)

Anyway, awesome shot Ray. One of the best I've seen. I was considering taking one of the moon last night as well, but never got out and did it.

    Thanks for posting this one!

    Hi Brian,

Yes, the 300D is the Digital Rebel. I forgot to mention that this was actually a DAY shot, not a night one. I should post the original later on so everyone can see the difference.

    Thanks for the comments!

    A day shot?

How interesting. Is this cropped at all? It looks great.

Yes it is, Spike. The moon took up about 1/6 the frame but the extra pixels of the 300D enable me to crop it and still keep a good sized image.

Thank you, Penny! Yes, I am getting the hang of this camera very fast and am beginning to LOVE it and the lenses. I'm about to post some pictures taken at Balboa Park today when I Claudia and I went for a walk around the lake, so you may want to check those out too.

Brian, here is the original. As you can see, not quite as dramatic as the b/w. Contrast is everything when it comes to moon shots, which is why I prefer the b/w.

    Nice conversion as well.

    It is easy, isn't it?

Wow, talk about a color cast! Again, great conversion.

What is the magnification factor on that camera? 1.3? 1.5? 1.6? It definitely helps to boost that 300mm, and it does it without any loss of light like a tele-converter. Gotta love it.

Thanks Speed. It says in a pamphlet that came with the lens that the magnification factor is 1:2. I don't know enough about lens yet to say whether that's good, bad, or average, but I can say from using the lens it's great compared to my old 2x teleconverter.
