I'm on a roll! New Shots!

Someone Stop me!!!! lol Actually, i've been in the shooting mood because I need 3 of my best shots to be hung in a gallery so I keep trying to outdo myself by getting better and better shots. I find myself going a tad abstract at times with them though...
(These are the identical image (as if you didn't know!))

All of the shots here are done with my Nikin Coolpix 4300 with natural lighting in macro mode.

Lil Daisy here I just blacked out the background so the daisy would stand out more:

This shot would have had the deck in the back which would have been distracting so I used a black matte behind it, then just darkened the matte board in photoshop so the flowers would be brilliant with color. Again, I think it tends to look a little abstract because of the brilliance of the color and the angle of black in the background.

Janie, your first two are wonderful. I love the abstract you did with the second. Very creative.

I did really like the iris ones. Have you ever tried black velvet as a background? It seems to eat light like a sponge.

I liked the iris photos too - in fact... they were hung in a gallery tonight and are for sale for $190 (for the set - I hate overpricing and underpricing so I pulled that number out of my head)! ;-) So yeah! And velvet - how do you do that for photos?

I bought a few yards of velvet at the craft store. For my flower pictures, I drape it over a piece of Foam Core Board and prop that up behind the flower. For people, I hang it on the wall.

LOL Jim - I must have been having a blond moment when I read your post about the velvet! lol I was thinking you print your photos on it! lol Reminded me of those paintings that were popular in the 80s! The velvet - okay, that makes sense now! lol Thanks! I'll have to pick some up and try that sometime

Thank you Liz! Funny, I usually specialize in mideaval or mythological style photos, which people usually love to see - but I became addicted to the macro and flowers! lol And I keep trying to make them more and more abstract, but I was told they are extremely erotic at the gallery last night! lol I guess it's its all in the eye of the beholder!
