I have considering buying a printer for several months and I have looked at a wide variety of possibilities as some of you already know. Finally, I ended up with an HP 8750 (the 13x19 model of their professional range).
I have "waisted" quite some ink and 4x6 paper last week end in a series of test prints that turned out to be not that useful. My calibrated monitor, the HP's suplied profiles for their papers and the proper settings in PS allow me to get results that match my monitor quite accurately pretty much all the time. The colors used to be bigger than life but few saturation tweaks took care of the issue. The print quality is highly promising and b&w comes out superbly well thanks to the two shades of grey inks along with the black ink.
I am bit schemed by the fact that most folks systematically goes for Epson. I mean, they have a great range of printers but the new generation of HP's deserve the same kind of attention I think.
A big thanks to everyone here who have been supporting me in that quest lol!
regards
Seb
